Anyone know the exact where-a-bouts of "Hells Church" in Canton GA? This from Shadow Lands...

Cherokee County - Hell Church - is a place located in the old part of Canton. There is a long narrow road going back into the woods that is very difficult to get down. You then come upon a church, out in the middle of no where, that is very small (one room ) and white. Located directly across the road is a cemetery with graves dating back to the 18th century. Although there have been accounts of graves freshly dug. The story goes that back in the 80's a boy was found mutilated. Most say that it was a cult killing. But the church was shut down and the newspaper clipping of this horrible event still exists. The church has been re-opened but there are still accounts of hearing faint piano music coming from inside the church late at night.

***PHOTO UPDATE****

Ok guys,

Here's the pics as I promised.

There are a couple of things that I forgot to point out.:

1. The road to the church is now paved and so is the parking area.

2. It's a piano that can be heard, not an organ.

3. I forgot to mention that when I looked in the church, I did not see any sign of religious artifacts (Crucifix, tithe/offering plates, etc.).

Let me explain the pics as we go along:

This is the church itself:

Here is the memorial that tells about the church's demise.

Here is the cemetery:

The rectangular plot in the middle of the picture are ALL childrens' graves:

Here are some of the graves where I was talking about the children dying within the first year of life. They are ALL over the cemetary. (Note: I've photoshopped the names out for respect and privacy of the dead and their families):

Here is a very old grave that has no date on it:

Hope you enjoyed! Smile

Nice photos and update. Wow - the church is MUCH more modern than I was expecting it to be. I visualized a little run down church out in the middle of the woods like another place (right Heidi? Wink )

Now the burning question on a few peoples minds is, WHERE is the church located? Smile What is the name of the road it is off of? Can you post directions if you dont mind?

Thanks and nice work again!

I would be interested in joining y'all for a trip. I am very fond of cemeteries and, even in cases of "creepy" ones, I rarely feel uncomfortable. Maybe it's because of the great respect that I hold for the inhabitants of the cemeteries whilst on the property, who knows?

I would love to be a part of any scientific investigation of this sort to gain more experience in investigating the paranormal (it's been a childhood interest of mine).

If it helps, I am a college student majoring in history and my focus in victorian studies. I noticed that the dates on the graves are around that time and, even though I study the British region of that time, I may be able to genuinely approach the proper authorities with a scholarly purpose and questions.....

Can I tag along, maybe?

Also, will you be bringing equipment and what kind?

Wow....is there anymore information on this location? I think I would like to check it out at some point. Sad about the children. Was anyone able to find out why so many died at that time in life?

I was wondering if any of you have actually gone and taken a trip out to this church, yet. I live in the Canton area and would be EXTREMELY interested in finding more out. I've heard stories from all the 'locals' regarding the church, but have chalked most of it up to urban legend. It'd be interesting to find out exactly what went one, and what is still going on, if anything.

This church sounds interesting. How horridly fascinating about all the infant deaths. I would like to hear more.
Laurelati, welcome to the site...I am sure any of us would be happy to have you along on a hunt and hear any stories you have to share. I hope you enjoy all the great folks here, as well as this splendid subject matter! Kathy

Hi all,
I actually am a Canton Native... YAY ME!!! I remember when the vandalism happened and was even "friends" with a couple of the idio...sorry, people that did the vandalism. Sad days. I had forgotten all about it until I saw the posts here.
There were supposed "satanic" rituals performed there and some kind of "ritualistic killings". I think Channel 5 came to the high school (Cherokee High) and interviewed some of my fellow students there. I remember one name that stands out in my head, but I won't mention it. (Respecting privacy and all that).
If you guys are heading this way feel free to let me know. If I can't go out there with you, maybe I could meet for dinner or something.

Hi there, Gambrel022, and with 1 post I guess I should add a welcome to the group, too. I live in Waleska and was interested in this church and cemetary. I am thinking about heading there in a couple of weeks. If I do, I'll post a notice here, if you are wanting to join in. Would it be possible for you to contact the individual that you remember and ask a few more questions? Maybe you could get us some details to go on. Also, do you remember what month and year any of it happened? I would like to research it some.

Where exactly is Canton? This church is fascinating me, but I'm not sure I can travel too far away.
