The City of Norcross launches First Annual Ghost Tours
~ Celebrating being part of one of the most haunted states, Norcross joins in Georgia’s spirits~
NORCROSS September 25, 2008- Norcross Cultural Arts and Community Center is proud to present “Norcross Ghost Tours”. Join our guides for an evening stroll through this lovely little railroad town to discover more about "Southern Spirits". Georgia known for our history and legends, has long been known as one of the most haunted states. Take advantage of the great fall weather and visit the inviting City of Norcross for a scary stroll of history, hauntings and horror or a visit to our historic cemetary.
There are two tours. The 7pm tour takes place in the old Norcross Cemetery, at the corner of Buford Hwy. and Cemetery St. This tour is more family oriented and better suited for children. The 8:30 pm tour is a walking Ghost Tour around the downtown area of Norcross. This tour is filled with spine tingling tales of horrifying supernatural experiences from the North Georgia region. This tour starts at the Norcross Cultural Arts and Community Center, 10 Britt Street - across Lawrenceville Street from City Hall (the former Cameron Church Property). The tour ends at the Iron Horse Tavern around 10pm.
As an added bonus be sure to ask your GUIDE at the end of your tour for your I Survived the Ghost Tour DISCOUNT Card, which is good at select City of Norcross merchants! Check the website www.norcrossghost.com for the updated list of merchants. The Discount Cards are good through November 26, 2008.
Tours will run every Friday & Saturday night through the month of October and on November 1st. Prices: Adults $12, Children (7-14) $8.00 and Children (6-5) are free with a paying adult - only 1 free child per adult. Please don’t bring the little tiny tots as they will get bored, cold, cranky and can disturb the dead and the undead! To make reservations go to www.norcrossghost.com or call 404-583-0000.
If you have a large group of folks like a Scout Troop, Social Group, Church Group, School Group, Office Party, Business Association or you just have a lot of friends, we will be happy to schedule a private discounted tour on any Tuesday or Thursday during the month of Ocober for a minimum of fourteen participants. Dress appropriately for the weather and wear comfortable shoes as the tours are outside. We encourage children to wear their Halloween Costumes, but remember it will be chilly!
For those that are familiar with Georgia Ghost Hunters, W. Aymerich is one of the featured tour guides. His personal tours can be requested when making reservations.
For those that are concerned with safety, our guides are always connected to the Norcross Police Department during our tours for the safety of our guides and our guests.

People who are thinking about going to the tour on Friday 10/24/2008 please keep your eyes peeled to this post… I have heard that the weather will be bad and that there may be some storms. I will keep you all posted if the tour will be cancelled or not.

Okay folks this is it the final weekend for the ghost tour in the Halloween Season… We will be celebrating both Halloween on Friday and The Day of the Dead (Día de los Muertos) on Sat. with good ghost stories and a stop at our favorite local haunt The Iron Horse tavern to partake of our favorite spirits! (Dirty martinis & Beer) What is Día de los Muertos you ask? It is a holiday celebrated mainly in Mexico and by people of Mexican heritage as well as others living in the United States and Canada. The holiday focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember friends and relatives who have died. The celebration occurs on the 1st and 2nd of November, in connection with the Catholic holy days of All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day which take place on those days. Traditions include building private altars honoring the deceased, using sugar skulls, marigolds, and the favorite foods and beverages of the departed, and visiting graves with these as gifts. Observance of the holiday in Mexican-American communities in the United States has become more important and widespread as the community grows numerically and economically.
