ok as promised in chat, some hounds wanted me to post on some books I had read that were very good.

I am currently on GHOST by Katherine ramsland-which is totally awesome,I recommend it strongly!! Wink
also recently purchased we are eternal by Robert brown-which is a revealing book into the world of spirit communication and life after death.
Coast to coast Ghosts-many ghost stories from all over the country.

ANother good one is Ghost Encyclopedia by Hans Holzer,Its excellent and delves into the scientific aspects of ghost hunting.
Georgia ghosts is another good book about hauntings in our state. I even have how to be a ghost hunter-which is
good and explains general basics!

Later I will post more books but I did want to throw some titles out there for those interested!
Would love to also know if anyone has read any good ghost books.

I have many ,many more books- I have a lot of sylvia brown books and southern ghost stories, hauntings of the presidency-which also is good -delving into presidents who experienced paranormal activity in their lives and/or in the white house.

Graves End is awesome too-a true story of a haunting a family experienced.

I would love to share some of these books with other hounds and some of us mentioned maybe a girls night out with dinner, sharing books and a hunt! Very Happy Cool Wink

I have a rather puny list of ghost books...but they're all pretty good.

As far as fiction goes, I have:

Ghosts. A collection of short stories, poems, and excerpts from other stories showing different examples of ghost stories. There is even one story about a trial where a house is given to the ghost of the deceased owner's best friend, instead of the owner's own flesh and blood.

Midnight Bayou by Nora Roberts. Heidi is currently borrowing this book, but I can loan it out once she's through with it. An attorney from Boston moves down to Louisiana after having bought an old Antebellum Plantation home through a blind auction. Strange things occur in the house while he is remodeling, and he realizes that he and a woman he meets are somehow connected to the house.

Wait Till Helen Comes by Mary Downing Hahn. A children's story more than adult, about a mixed family who moves into an old church. Told in first person narrative, the oldest of three children is concerned over the safety of her younger stepsister, who has befriended the ghost of a girl who drowned in a nearby pond nearly a century ago. Local legend states that it was the ghost of this girl who has led many children to their deaths in this pond, and the young stepsister may be next.

Nonfiction...

Coast to Coast Ghosts by Leslie Rule. The daughter of famous author Ann Rule (author of true crime novels like Small Sacrifices, about the Diane Downs murder case) writes of various haunted sites across the U.S., including one or two here in Georgia. Having grown up in a haunted house herself, she writes of accounts people have had in these places, and if she had one herself.

Banshees, Bugles and Belles: True Ghost Stories of Georgia by Barbara Duffey. A small collection of ghost stories here in Georgia, mostly places that have been featured in other books dealing with Georgia hauntings. Provides contact information (if available) for tours.

Haunted Heartland by Beth Scott and Michael Norman. Contains a collection of true ghost stories across the American Midwest, from Illinois to Indiana to I-o-way to Kansas and a few other states.

Ghosts and Legends of Wales by J.A. Brooks. Contains a collection of short true stories of hauntings in Wales, UK.

That's about it for my collection. I do have a copy of the book Sightings dealing with some of the more famous stories from the old series. There is a collection of true ghost stories in it, but There are other paranormal stories in there, such as UFOs, reincarnation, a school protected by angels, etc.[/u]

Hey Heidi,
I tend more towards fiction than factual, but Graves End sounds intriguing, I'd love to borrow that.

In the fiction realm, I recommend Lost by Gregory Maguire. It's a modern-day ghost story involving a descendant of Charles Dickens, and examines how he might have come up with the ghost of Marley and the spirits. Rather interesting, I love his work.

I guess I need to stay up for chat more, to hear about things like a girls' night out, huh? Razz

I would LOVE to be in on the Girls' Night Out. I'll just need to know ahead of time so I can take off of work to participate. LOL
I have quite a few Ghost and Haunting books, but my favorite is Savannah Spectres It's written by a woman from Savannah and it hits just about every haunted place in Savannah. It's a wonderful book and it does have some ghost hunt information in there as well. I have a few Hans Holzer books among others.
