I thought I'd run these accounts by you guys just to see what you think. My personal experiences at my house are the occasional disembodied voices, sometimes right in my ear. Most of the time they sound female and whispered and on occasion they call my name. One night, I was awakened by a cold chill, only to find that my blanket was down around my waist. A few minutes after pulling it back up to my neck, I felt it being gently pulled back down. By the way, I was alone. In my current room (I moved to the basement) I have a solid wood desk that sits on a concrete slab. The other night (oddly enough, watching Ghost Hunters) a stack of coins fell off the corner of the desk. The cats and doges were all on the bed, so it wasn't them. Those are just some of my experiences.

My other family members have had some strange things too. My mother sees a figure move across the hall at the foot of our steps (I've seen it too). My neice and nephew have both seen a little boy in the hall upstairs, which I used to see all the time when I was younger. My sister, while doing laundry, saw a little girl in a blue velvet dress, standing next to her. It freaked her out a little and she put her hand out and it changed into my nephew (weird). And the most interesting one happened to my mom and dad. They were watching TV down in the room where I am now. We had the piano where my desk is. Now keep in mind an upright piano on a concrete slab is probably one of the most stable things in the house. It was also a very calm night (ie. no wind.) In a rapid sequence, the screen door slammed shut, the face of the metronome on the piano fell off, and said metronome started ticking. The cover popping off, I could explain away because it was plastic and old and didn't fit very well. The arm of the metronome, however, is held in place by slipping it under a tab with a groove on it so you have to push it back to release it.

Sorry for the long post. But I just wanted to share, Needless to say, I think something out of the ordinary is going on. What do you think?

It sounds like you have a very active house. What is the house and/ or property history? Do you know if some of your neighbors are experiencing the same things? Sometimes they do, and no one has discussed it due to embarrassment or thinking they'll be the subject of gossip, etc. At other times, neighbors can be helpful in finding out the history of the place. They may know the past families, or have heard something a little different or more than your own family knows. I have investigated particular houses in Georgia whose occupant family knows everyone's business back to the beginning of the town, family trees and all. Ofcourse, that can happen anywhere, but I was particularly impressed by that factor on at least a few occasions. So, particularly, if you ask the right questions, you may find out nearly everything you need to know just by talking to them. (Without necessarily disclosing your reasons for asking). Another question is, have you tried to do evp work? Sit quietly with a recorder, any kind you have or can afford, and ask some questions and see if you get some answers. Even a reaction of sound to a particular question can lend you some information. Other times, just leave the recorder on in active locations and see what you find later. Is there anyone in the house that experiences the MOST activity? Have your family get a notebook and make a log of what they see and when, see if there is a pattern to what happens and who notices it. This could be very helpful in putting pieces of the puzzle together. One last question, are you male or female? This could explain in some part why you always hear a particular spirit...they may have taken akin to you for some reason attached to your gender. Just curious. You said you always hear a female. Do you think it's you she's interested in particularly, because she knows you can hear her, or it's the location you're in when you hear her? I.e. she's attached to that spot in the house. Good luck and let us know what you find. Very Happy

Oh yeah, I'm a male. I seem to experience the majority of the stuff. Although my mother says she sees the figure at the foot of the stairs at least once a day.
As far as history goes, when we moved in in '78, it was new construction. I know there used to be cotton fields around here, so there may have been a plantation around here somewhere. I need to research that a little more.
I'm probably going to do some evp work in the next day or so, eventhough they creep me out a little.

Nomotiv, I love doing evp work. If you need some help with them, let me know. I think they're fascinating, though I can imagine how one would feel about capturing them in your own home. That would put a different spin on it for me, also. Try not to be afraid of what you find, look at it like answers and pieces to a puzzle. I don't think anyone is there to harm you or your family. In any case, they can't harm you.
Cotton fields, plantations, slavery, all the different traffic that could have come from that area, military seizing the cotton fields, ransacking the property, traumas, etc, you name it- can be a really good explanation for your property's activity, as can Native American history even before- or during- that time. I mean, north Georgia is ripe with history as I'm sure you know, it's like peeling down layers of a huge onion.

Good luck with your research and let me know if you would like a second ear to listen to your recordings.
