Does anyone know what the battery life is on a Tri-Field Natural that's setup for a continuous static monitoring operation? I know it's probably dependent on how often it's activated but I'm trying to decide between Type 1 and Type 2 that has an AC Adapter.

I would always go a device with an AC adaptor, better to have and not need than need and not have.

Does the one with the AC adapter work off battery as well? If so then I would definitely go with that one.

That's what I was thinking, however AlphaLabs website states the Type 1 is better for paranormal / parapsychological investigations and has less battery draw than the Type 2 because it's "SUM" setting uses the electric and magnetic fields together. The Type 2 uses the magnetic plus radio/microwave which draws more and it cannot be set off from people walking by like the Type 1.

I'm looking for something to supplement my Sperry 200A. I looked at the triple axis EMF's out there figuring I was going to spend a couple of C Notes anyway but I like the perimeter alarm capability of it and having it AC power capable.

Yes, they both operate off of a (9) volt.

One 9 volt battery on the Trifield Natural EM lasts PLENTY long enough for an investigation. I've never tested it to see exactly how long, but I'd guess no less than 12 hours and probably quite a bit longer.

The AC adapter might save the day if you find you've forgotten to bring 9 volts, or keep getting battery drain, but the idea of a gauss meter hooked into the power grid makes me uneasy for some reason. I know the Trifield Natural EM Meter is designed to reject AC fields, BUT the adapter IS going to step down the AC line voltage and convert it to 9 volts DC - something to consider! I'd be afraid that transient voltage spikes might trigger false positive readings.

If given the choice, always use 9 volt batteries when possible. I'd ONLY use the AC adapter as an absolute last resort. My $.02 for what its worth.

Thanks GG, that's what I was looking for. Have you found the Null / Squelch setting change after the initial tuning? Some investigators use the Tri-Field while walking and the Null setting changes so I assumed it was because they weren't in a stationary setting.

Thisi s from the Trifield website Peaceriver posted in another thread.
.....
The TriField Meter comes with a one-year warranty and a 9-volt transistor battery included. This type of battery lasts about 10 hours (total measurement time). When the BATTERY TEST reads low, the battery can be replaced with any rectangular 9 volt transistor or alkaline (which lasts about 50 hours) type. This meter is manufactured in the USA. TriField is a registered trademark of W.B. Lee.
