Advice please... is this con anything like DragonCon where you need to book the hotel a year in advance? I'd be really interested in going, but it's still a little ways off. Or maybe just book the room and cancel if need be? Any advice? Thanks in advance.

It is going to be like DragonCon, but not sure how quickly you will need to reserve your room. I would book now to be on the safe side. _________________ Eeek the Kat (aka Darren)

Thanks for the heads up. I'll be sure to go ahead and reserve now.

Hi fellow Hounds!
Just a few answers to some of your questions regarding OmegaCon. I would have responded sooner but I've been in Columbus Mississippi doing what I love....ghost hunting. It was our third pilot episode for Haunted Southern Nights.
First, our fearless leader Patrick who was the FIRST paranormal track guest request because he's my mentor and yours, along with Nathan Levan, Dave Schrader and Ricci Guess are the Paranormal Track Department assistants at this event, myself being the Paranormal Track Department Head. All these wonderful friends are helping me out the best they can and I quite frankly I couldn't ask for more with all the fine details and organization. This is a sci-fi, fantasy, hard science, gaming, literary, art con just like the others with the exception that it has a very strong paranormal track, VERY strong. Will it be as large as the con in Atlanta....no way, not this first year, probably not for several years. Don't take me wrong, there will be thousands of attendee's (crossing my fingers for HUGE showing in the paranormal). It is being held March 14-16 at the Sheraton in Birmingham, Alabama, which is the largest convention center in the Southeast. So, I don't think we won't have breathing room. Tickets/memberships as they are called are on sale already. They are cheaper if you purchase prior to the con. That is a wise idea, especially with the price of gas these days. Also it gives the con a good estimate of how many folks are coming to the con, and it keeps ticket lines shorter. I stood in line in Atlanta, omg! Accommodations are available at the Sheraton currently. Will they run out? I can't answer that question. You have to mention the name OmegaCon and they are offering discounted rates at this time, but that will only last a certain length of time. As with all reservations one can cancel following the particular hotels rules. I feel in my heart that the paranormal track will be represented strongly in Birmingham. The guest line up is in itself phenomenal. The fact that it won't be shoulder to shoulder means we all have the opportunity to spend more time with our favorites in the paranormal world. I'm excited about that! If you have any questions please feel free to email me with them, I don't mind a bit. If I can't answer them I will direct you to someone who can.
Right now my mind is focused on my favorite paranormal event of the fall, Ghostock5!!! I can't wait to get to Savannah and visit with all my friends and investigate in the most haunted city in this country! We have an absolute blast there. I hope to get to hang out with you guys as much as possible and enjoy the panels that Patrick and the Ghost Hounds have lined up for us.
I will be going as their guest on the literary tracks. And hopefully, all fingers and toes crossed, I'll be bringing my new non-fiction book,Spirits of Southern Crescent GA with me!
It will be a great time. But with respect to Dragon Con, I don't think they'll be pulling 60,000 people as it is a new convention. However, you'll never know the numbers until it happens. So, Yes. I'd book t he hotel now just to be safe, especially if you really wish to attend. _________________ Un-Settling Reading......Christina

Ghost hunting is a potentially hazardous activity due to numerous environmental variables. Outdoor ghost hunts typically take place in dark areas such as cemeteries and old buildings which may contain unseen hazards that pose risk of bodily harm, damage to property or even death. We do not recommend anyone venture into an unfamiliar area without first surveying potential hazards during daylight hours.
