This is just flipping awesome!!! Bill Murray made a surprise guest appearance at Fantastic Fest in Austin last week, and during the Q&A someone had the nerve to ask about Ghostbusters 3. Since he’s not quite as vocal about the series as Ramis or Aykroyd have been, hearing his comments on it pretty much solidified the whole thing for me… According to AICN, Bill commented that he believes the wounds from Ghostbusters 2 have healed and he’s more than ready to step into the shoes and proton pack of Dr. Peter Venkman one last time. He acknowledged that two writers from “The Office” (specifically Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky) were working on a script, which was “a good start”, and feels the first 40 minutes from the original is "some of the best stuff he's been associated with". So what helped convince him? Voicing Venkmen in the recent Ghostbusters video game was a big help, so much so that he found himself singing the Ghostbusters theme song to himself all over again afterwards. You may recall that any other time rumors on a new Ghostbusters film has surfaced, Murray’s always been the squeaky wheel who's said no way, so to know that even he’s excited to see this happen is very encouraging. On September 4, 2008, Columbia Pictures signed on Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky (writers for the U.S. version of The Office) to script a third film. No deals will be made with the original cast until the script is complete. The story will feature old and new Ghostbusters.[30] Ramis had collaborated with Eisenberg and Stupnitsky on The Year One. Judd Apatow is also producing that film, and has made other films for Columbia, so they hope he will provide cast members for Ghostbusters III. Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Ivan Reitman are consulting on the project, and Bill Murray will be involved on some level, having expressed interest in reprising his role… get ready because in 2010 Who you gonna call?? Clown
