|
| |
In response to the problems some users are experiencing with this website, I have created this new support forum that I would like all users to start using for reporting site bugs and issues. I will also be posting information regarding scheduled site outtages and updates here. No talk of ghosts and the paranormal in this board – this is for the finer points of Internet technology!
PLEASE NOTE – advice given in this support forum assume at least an intermediate understanding of some computer terms and techniques. I have simplified it and will include tutorials on occasion explaining things as best I can, but I can only be expected to teach so much. So if what I have posted below makes no sense to you, please seek help from a friend / neighbor / co-worker / family member / fellow Ghost Hound etc etc who is more proficient with computers and the Internet and have them read over the advice given here.
However knowledgeable users here are more than welcome to jump right in and lend a hand to users having issues!
Also note that advice given by myself and others in this forum is posted “as-is”. In other words, if you choose to try something someone has advised you about here and things get fouled up even more in the process, you can’t litigate (sue) any of us! You assume all responsibility and risks associated with advice given in this forum – again, if you don’t know exactly what it is you are doing, PLEASE seek the assistance of someone who does.
And lastly, please try to keep technical discussions limited to problems being experienced with ghosthounds.com and not a general free-for-all support for other computer issues or issues with other websites.
Your cooperation and understanding in these matters is appreciated. _________________ Patrick Burns

| i'm seeing that as well, casperette. looks like a MYSQL table went bad. I don't think that would affect your ability to post in a specific topic, though. |

Okay, I can't post to a specific forum again. Are there like banned key words or names (like author's) for this site? I remember once I re-did the reply for 'old TV shows', it finally posted (I'm not sure what I left out). This time, I am trying to post two book reviews to the 'Summer reading ' forum. Nothing in the post is negative....really I also tried to send it in a PM to wingedguy a few times and it did not go. Please let me know. Thanks. |

okay, my screens are changing really really slowly! Is this happening to anyone else?
I was out of town this past weekend and had to switch to a wireless connection from a cable one. I had trouble using the forum with this connection so I pretty much gave up trying to use the site. When I got home to my wonderful cable line and came to the site, I was still logged in! Do you think this has something to do with it being so slow now? |

Screens changing over have to do with your connection. There could be a lot of reasons why your connection is slow. You should actually have a faster connection directly to your modem, not through wireless.
You may want to run a virus check. you could have a bug or a program sending signals out. That will definately slow down your the page change.
And one other question... Where were you still logged in? Into the ghosthounds site?
Hope this helps some. _________________ Dave of all trades. Master of none. |
