I agree! That was seriously fun, even from home!
An ice cold toast goes out to all who did scareoke! What I riot, I'm so sad I missed it in person! Patrick, that was awesome. We SO have to sing together sometime! And to the young lady that sang "here for the party"... I wanna see her on Idol! That was great. to you all!
Thanks for the in-home entertainment! Can't wait to see some of the panels tomorrow.
wishing you all a blasty-blast of a weekend
*hugs*

couple of things about the chat:
only have 1 window with the podcast in otherwise you will get an echo.
make sure you update your Java Script. _________________ If your not behind our Troops, please feel free to stand infront of them.

I've done everything correctly and even updated javascript, but still nothing. Oh well, just chalk up this GS to dust. _________________ "Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars" - Les Brown |

Unfortunately I'm unable to see the video feed. I get a white box with a flashing red box inside it. When I click to activate it does nothing! UGH....
I tried reinstalling Java and adobe flashplayer but that didn't work. I guess I'll have to wait til next GS and go in person! I was so wanting to watch! _________________ Helen |

Helen, I tried my computer at work AND at home and even after updating all of my Java and Adobe, nothing's working for me either. I was so looking forward to at least being able to watch the webcast since I can't be there in person. I'm very disappointed. Hope they can get things working for future GS's. _________________ "Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars" - Les Brown |

I found that my laptop did not allow me access to the video or audio...but my husband's desktop DID! So I'm able to view it all on the desktop.
Maybe there's something on a laptop that doesn't allow that? Not sure! _________________ Helen |

Hey Mae! Glad you got to see the webcast. Neither work nor home desktop computers would work, even with updates. I think they need to find another way to show webcast as I'm not the only one. It's just very disappointing. I'm off to go watch the Scariest Places on Earth Scare-a-thon. Nothing else better to do. _________________ "Shoot for the moon. Hey Patrick, are you going to have this webcast archived and available for a while? I would love to- and i'm sure it's just not me- come back and be able to watch some of what I missed. I was particularly interested in the investigation results tonight but we have company and I didn't have the time to watch. Though I did want to say that I popped in here every so often- I just heard Amanda's ticking butt story |

Patrick, first and foremost, thank you so much for making the webcast available to us. I loved being able to hear your speakers and to share in some of your fun (even Scaryoke!).
I think it would be extremely helpful if you did a post before next Ghoststock that would list the possible problems with getting into the chat/video site. I know the first year, I couldn't get in and it was really frustrating, so I understand the frustration that was shared by some of the folks this year.
I don't know why some computers can get in and some can't. I know some of the issues might be updating Java, firewalls, and the like. I don't know how many people can be in the chat room at the same time. Is there a finite number?
Last, but not least, and please hear me out, because I know you are generous to a fault - I don't know whether or not something like pay-per-view would be possible, but if it were, the fees you collected might allow you to do some upgrades that would ensure a feed that almost everyone could access. You could have someone on this end who worked as your tech assistant and who was available to help everyone connect.
My feeling - and i've put my money where my mouth is, is that we were able to get all of the "meat" of the conference for free, whereas folks down there had to pay a fee to come to the conference. With the exception of going on the hunts, we could get advice from experts, via asking questions on the web, and could hear about some of the latest things going on in the world of ghost hunting. The site couldn't have been more interactive. I felt like I was right there in the room (except that I could make side comments and chatter with my fellow posters without disturbing a room full of people . I think that' s worth something, in terms of monetary value, and so I contributed to the site. I truly believe if others understood the costs to you, and the possibility that at some point, you might not be able/willing to fork all of the expense out of your own pocket, they'd be happy to pay.
Just my two cents, for what it's worth. And thanks again to you, Pam and Denise for all the hard work in getting Ghoststock ready!! |

My experience with the chat was that being the client was a java client, it was a resource hog, and it maxed out my laptop. I eventually swapped to a IRC client and connected to dal net using mirc. Of course this ment I couldn't watch the vid feed, but why would I since I was there.
Of course I had to look at the feed to make sure it was bright enough for everyone to see.
I love to play with video cameras. Too bad I can't afford one myself. At any case I had a blast being the cameraman.

I fully agree with storytllr. I had a blast and learned so much. I watched it as often as I could during working hours (I snuck a peek or two) and every minute when I wasn't working. I met and made friends with so many people in chat. We had a blast!! I made a donation and hope that it helps. Thank so much for having the feed and ya'll did an excellent job even with the issues.
