Hi peoples. A quick intro. I'm Ken... aka Max. Rhetta's (Star's) quiet hubby.
Now to the point of the post.
In my opinion, ghost hunting tech is still very primative. The biggest problem I see, is that even the best equipment that we use these days give us no more than one or two dimensions of data.
Trifold meters, temperture gauges, sound equipment... all one dimensional. Video cameras, two dimensional. They give images for height and width. They all are missing the third dimension.
Okay, right now what I'm going to suggest isn't going to be cheap, so it is mostly going to be dream material.
Anyway, here goes.
Problem #1.
"Did you hear that?" "Where is it coming from?"
Audio is great for the "oooo" factor... The problem is that microphones are one dimensional. The can record the sound, but it can't tell you what direction the sound came from, or how far away it is.
Solution:
Create a multiple audio recording device. A device with at least 3 microphones. Why not two? Well, two can help tell you how far away a sound is, and which direction it is, relative to the two microphones, but not in terms if it is in front or behind the microphones so much. The third microphone is to help further eliminate the question.
Link a computer to analyse the multiple sound streams, in theory it should be possible to pin point what direction the sound would be. A fourth microphone could also aid in how high/low the sound could be.
Problem #2.
"Look! A shadow!" "What is it?"
Video is very nice, but we have two eyes, not one. It is why we are able to perceive in three dimensions.
The video device would have two cameras... at least our eye span apart, preferibly farther apart. This way, a shadow could be identified as if it really is a shadow, or an actual 3D apparition.
Again, using a computer could recreate a 3D image of the area.
The more and more cameras would be great.
Finally, I would like to have a robot to mount the devices on. A robot could go into areas where we could not.
Anyway, this message is long enough. Gotta hit the chat room.

Ghost hunting is a potentially hazardous activity due to numerous environmental variables. Outdoor ghost hunts typically take place in dark areas such as cemeteries and old buildings which may contain unseen hazards that pose risk of bodily harm, damage to property or even death. We do not recommend anyone venture into an unfamiliar area without first surveying potential hazards during daylight hours.
