Can someone please recommend a Digital Voice Recorder that can be heard while in use? I believe Patrick mentioned something called a U3. I would like to record and listen with my headphones at the same time. I am thinking of getting the iTalk for my iPod to record directly to that. Anyone got any experience using the iPod to record to? Any opinions? _________________ ---Sharon Mooney

YES, you can use your iPod to record audio for EVP work but I'm told that without hacking the firmware (software that make the iPod work) the "iTalk" application severely limits the quality you can record at.
Here is the unit I'm using these days for MP3 recording... the iAudio U3...
Note thats the 1 gig version which should be plenty of storage if you are only doing EVP work. They also have 2 gig and 4 gig versions. If you are planning to use this device as a tradtional MP3 or video player (like I do) for your music collection, as well as for EVP work, you probably want the 2 or 4 gig version.
Re: iPod... sorry to say, I am NOT a fan of Apple. I will never own an iPod or iPhone. Unless you consider consumer electronics to be some sort of bizzare designer fashion accesory and simply MUST be seen wearing the latest iGizmo, there is absolutely no need to spend two to four times as much for Apple products - there are always better alternatives available (or in the works) that are MUCH less expensive - you just have to do a little bit of homework first! _________________ Patrick Burns

So, would any MP3 player that has a built in voice recorder allow you to hear what you are recording as it is recorded or is the U3 special? _________________ ---Sharon Mooney
