Hi all - I wasn't sure if this should go in "debates", but I went ahead and did so because there might be differing opinions so....therefore I guess is the definition of "debate".
Anyhow, to the question - I know there are some of you who are able to communicate freely with spirits, and I was wondering if anyone has had the experience of a spirit being able to read their thoughts. If you have not had this experience, do you believe it is possible? Could this ability (if it exists) explain some EVPs that you have gotten that you did not ask a question out loud, but got an answer anyway? I have heard that spirits are comforted by prayers and positive thoughts made by their living loved ones, but are these the ones that are said out loud, or the ones that are kept to ourselves?
I look forward to hearing what you all have to say - thanks for reading and responding!! _________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes!

I believe that spirits can read your thoughts and feelings--at least ours can. To me it is a comfort. Many times when I am sad a thought will pop in my head that I know only one person (spirit) could have put there and it makes me smile. I guess each person will have their own views, just as we have ours. _________________ Your loved ones are not gone...They are just harder to see and hear!!! |

GF - I couldn't agree more about the comforting part of it. I had posted a while back that I was cleaning out our closet one time and came across a non-descript plastic bag. Earlier that day, I had thought of my Dad for no apparent reason. This bag contained letters I had kept that were from family members when I was in college (lo these many moons ago!), but the first ones that fell out of the bag were from my Dad!
Maybe he planned the whole thing, knowing I was feeling a little "blue" at the time...
Anyway, thank you for the response - please keep the comments coming! _________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes!

I suppose anything is possible in the spirit realm, i mean you really dont know what they can do! IF you have had a personal experience im sure you could say that for a fact but for the most part its unchartered waters.
I believe a spirit can communicate back but for the most part i think thye are on a different plane than we are and have the same problems communicating with us as we do with them. Makes sense if you think about it because if it was that easy we would talk to them all the time. |

Well, they may be trying to communicate with us all the time, but we "fleshies" are either not capable of listening, or we are not listening in the right way. That's why I was wondering about EVP that may have an answer to a question that was not asked out loud. If they can read minds (to whatever extent), they may be trying all the time to communicate. A thought put in your head of a deceased loved one may be more than just a pleasant (or not so pleasant) memory. Thanks for the comments! _________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes!

Yeah, I read your posts about that one - David got one that said "keep walking" that night (my hubby). I haven't asked him if he was thinking anything about the place while you guys were there (like "should I stay or should I go"), but it was right before you guys were about to walk out the door!
Anyway, he hasn't gotten around to cleaning it up yet to post it (I caught it that same night you guys went out - I'll stay on him 'til he does his part! I'm his "tecchie" since I'm too chicken to go out on my own!) Thanks again for the reponses! _________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes!

I don't think we can suddenly read minds after we die, but I do believe if they were empathetic in life, so they will be in death. I don't know about you, but I can 'feel' emotions around me, so I think I will in death, too.
One hypothesis on those random EVPs is not so much they're trying to answer us or communicate with us directly, rather they're having their own conversations and some of which is recorded.
Just some thoughts. |

| Yeah i think that spirits talk on alot of different levels and maybe when they get really strong is when you can get a glimpse of it or a recording. |

Difficult to say what exactly we'll be able to do in death.
I'm new so I'll save this story for when I've settled in more, but some(perhaps all even)spirits communicate through the mind. I've never vocally spoken to a spirit, but I have communicated, or maybe vice versa; honestly only one night its happened and that night was very active.....strange its never happened again. And I am NOT a medium, nor would I attempt to be. I'd rather them contact me instead of me contacting them-just my philosophy. |

I " hear " in my mind . I can have a whole conversation . BUT , the bi question is always is it really a spirit talking to me or am I talking back to myself . I have yet to fully be sure I know the difference . Unless , someone tells me something I have totally forgotten or had never known that turns out to be true . I really need a tape recorder ....... _________________ Shelley Hobbs
