Bloody Mary

Remember this one from when you were little? You stand in the bathroom mirror with the door closed, lights off and say "bloody Mary" 10 times, then she comes out and scratches your face up,lol, I was scared to death of mirrors in the dark for the longest time!! Ok, I don't really care for them in the dark still Razz

and speaking of mirrors, does anyone read Dorothy Benton Frank? She isn't a ghost writer but one of her books has a part about a mirror and she is able to see someone from her past in the mirror. She says that part of the book is true. Her family got this mirror from an OLD hotel or something and it's been in her family for a while, and she sees ghostly images in it. WOW!

I worked with an x-marine that was scared to death of the whole thing. I went downstairs at work and tried it...spin 3 times and say the magical words...I was just seeing a distorted image of my own face because of the blood flow to my eyes...I think. Anyway, the marine was a wuss anyway (not because of being a marine) and wouldn't be alone with me at night for a while!!! Twisted Evil

When I was a kid (in Iowa) I heard one about how if you chanted "bloody devil" and turned around three times the devil would come out and "get you" (whatever that entailed, I'm not sure.) A girl I was with started to do it and I freaked out, screaming at her to stop. LOL!

In Portugal, the old sailors had a fear of what they called "Maria de la Mar." Mary of the Sea. The story went that Mary was drowned by the sea when the sea became jealous of her. Now if you take a woman out to sea with you and look into the water and say Maria's name, she would appear and drown both the lady and the person who brought her out to sea. Just an old seaman's tale, but thought it would be worth sharing.

I remember this story from the time I spent in Portugal. There's also another version from Spain. It's basically the same thing, though. Just different names.

Most UL (Urban Legends) have a truth to them. It just gets distorted through time, kinda like that operator game. My mom claims to have seen Mary but I myself cant say. I have seen to many weird things happen to temp fate.
