The scoop?

Brook Run is state owned property as has been stated many times. It’s posted “no trespassing” – as has ALSO been stated many times.

A little bird told me today that a few subscribers to this site are organizing a “non-Ghost Hounds” hunt there soon, but interestingly enough appear to be taking advantage of our huge subscriber base to recruit their army. This of course is a violation of our site rules.

Apparently this hunt is supposed to be “’more’ legal” than most. I’m not sure what “’more’ legal” means. To me, it sounds like someone who is a friend of a security guard that might look the other way while people do their thing. Its highly unlikely this is a truly legal investigation, because the state of Georgia in our past experience has zero interest in assisting us with access to locations like Brook Run. And no – a security guard does NOT have the authorization to grant anyone permission onto condemned state-owned property.

We’ve tried unsuccessfully for years to gain legal access to not only Brook Run, but Millidgevilles old mental hospital as well. The state has told us every time a flat “no” – they are worried that to allow any group access will “shine a light on it” make it appear they condone people being in there and only bring more illegal entry and vandalism. Then there is the whole liability issue the state does not want to assume. Especially since these locations are condemned; run down with many hazards and slated for demolition. Truly legal access to BR in my opinion is highly unlikely, given the track record of the state of GA granting access to such properties. But I regress. If any Hounds have already decided to go on said investigation, that is your business. However, I urge you to demand a copy of the signed permission forms with the state seal on them BEFORE you venture in.

However, what REALLY chaps my @ss is the admission by this person that they are “only using ghosthounds to find like-minded people” I.E. - attempting to recruit participants here for illegal activity. BZZZT. Wrong answer. Wrong website.

(Must be one helluva group if they can’t build their own user base on their own merits, huh?)

I’m starting to see a pattern of discussions about BR every Halloween, and frankly I’m getting tired of the seasonal thrill seekers (and lets face it, that’s all these people are – NOT true paranormal investigators) down playing the legalities of being in there. Even if one group managed to gain legal access to this location, to paraphrase another post, we can’t assume everyone reading these forums will do the same.

Now why does this hit such a nerve with me personally? Because as the founder and director of Ghost hounds, I COULD be charged as an accessory to criminal trespass, or indirectly liable if someone gets hurt that found out about this place here. Never underestimate the power of a determined lawyer. Shadowlands nearly found themselves at the end of just such a lawsuit for this very thing a few years back.

So I’m going to lay it on the line here Hounds. The Brook Run threads are being deleted. Consider it and other locations posted “no trespassing” here-forth taboo and forbidden subjects anywhere on this site – that includes forums, chat, private messages, shoutbox, galleries or any other means of communication originating on Ghost Hounds - and grounds to be Banned!

End of story.

Sorry GhostGeek, my intentions were not to make a group. All I wanted to know was what people who have been inside it thought about the place since every other BR post was just bashing about being leagal I just wanted to know more about it since I could not find any info on the internet about it... Sorry I did not mean to offend anyone I was just curious.

I witness your sworn oath, there, Geek -just in case it comes to that.

you, nor this site, have no part in the approval nor of the sanction of illegal activity in areas posted as "no trespass."

they are on their own.

I guess it needs to be restated, so there it is again. Please review our site rules as well to know what is / is not acceptable conduct on our site.

Thank you.
