Due to the fun we all had at the June meeting, our July meeting will be another cookout. I spoke with bebop on the phone just a little bit ago, and I think her idea of having the July meeting at "The Beach" in Jonesboro. For info, click here: http://www.thebeachccip.com/. This would be the 3rd Saturday of July, July 15.

Rather than renting a pavilion, bebop has kindly volunteered to arrive at the park at 8:00, when the gates open, and stake out a picnic area for us. I would strongly suggest everyone bring camp or folding chairs, or a blanket to sit on if that's more comfortable for you. There's a lot for the kids to do at the park, so feel free to come as early as you like and let the kids play and swim before we eat. I was thinking we'd fire up the grill around 1:30 or so, unless anyone has any objections to starting that early, and keep it going in smaller batches as people arrive. The park closes at 8, so we'll need to be wrapped up and cleaned up before then.

One change I'd like to make from the last cookout. Rather than assigning people to bring hot dogs or burgers, I think GG and I will bring the meat (and veggie burgers), and let everyone else concentrate on sides and such. Any thoughts?

Everyone let me know what you think--this is your cookout, so feel free to chime in your ideas.

See you then!

Pam

exchellent idea, Goohsmama!

I think we can adjust to an earlier dinner -especially for those who are swimming, they might get hungrier earlier anyway.

since we don't have a pavillon cover maybe we can bring larger picnic umbrellas (for those who have them) or kitchen tents.

Bebop -can you ask if these are allowed in the picnic area?

I will go ahead and sign up for my cracker salad. for those of you who got the recipe -sorry!

its ALL mine. y'all can fight over the green-bean casserole!

lol

We have a 10x10 gazebo we'll be bringing, but another one probably wouldn't hurt, especially if anyone has a screened one. WG, I'll go ahead and put you down for the cracker salad, but I think you need to make more of it this time. It went really quickly Hungry! .

I didn't come to the last one either, due to heat and medications. Not to sound like an old fart or something but the heat really makes me physically nauseous. I'd really love to come though, because I haven't met anyone yet. So, next time the meeting is indoors I'll come.. In the meantime I'll watch the weather report, if it's not to obnoxiously hot and humid I'll try to make it with my family!

The wife and I are coming to this one, Just one question though About how many should I expect (need to know so know how much to cook). Right now I havent decided wether to make brunswick stew, or Smoke a couple of whole tenderloins for bbq sandwiches , I could also do some potato salad, or if deserts are needed i can make pecan bars or homade carrot cake, or even bring a couple ice cream churns and make some ice cream, if there are hot dogs
involved I make a varsity style hotdog chili which is pretty close

Yall help me make up my mind... Very Happy

We had between 40 and 50 at the last one, giz, if that helps at all. I'll post a firmer head-count as people respond. As for what to make...they all sound so good. How about if you choose between the tenderloin and the carrot cake? I know we'll have hot dogs, so some chili would be good, too.

I'll get a list going this evening so we can keep track of what we're going to have.
