"Mystery in the Ashes"
After a first year student at the University of Georgia Law School is found dead in her burned apartment, all indications are that she knew her killer... but that person's identity remains a mystery. Can our team of experts provide other worldly information that will crack this case?
PLEASE VISIT TARAS SITE
http://tarabaker.com
I know I'm posting this before tonight's episode airs, but I wanted to get a jump start on this...
Our 3'rd episode is somewhat unique among our first seasons on several fronts. For one thing, it happened very close by in Athens, Georgia.
Its also a case that I have an indirect connection to. Last September, Sherri (GH username "scaredycat") led a small group of us on an EVP session at Tara's grave. Sheri went on to tell our small group that she works for the Baker family. She explained the circumstances of Tara's murder and then said "Its still a cold case".
When I heard those key words "cold case", the light bulb went on and I asked if she thought her family might be interested in us profiling Tara's case on the show. We had not even started production at this point and were still actively looking for cases to profile. Sherri replied "I'm sure they would! They are trying to get as much media coverage as possible." I told her to approach the Bakers with the POSSIBLITY of us featuring her case, but that I couldn't make any promises. She got back to me 2 days later that Mr and Mrs Baker were OK with it. I contacted our production company Departure Films with a synopsis of the case. One thing led to another, and 5 weeks later we were in Georgia filming.
This was one of our original two pilot episodes that aired in December 2005. The show has been extensively reworked since it first aired, so these episodes will have an entirely new look and feel to those we saw back in December. I've not seen the reedit yet, so this will be mostly a new experience for me. I'm very interested to see how the episode is different. I'll post a follow-up after the airing with more details
To Sherri - I know the Bakers must be on edge today. They have waited a LONG time (about 9 months) for this since we first approached them with the idea of the show. I know they must have been disapointed when the pilots premiered at such an early AM time slot back in December, but tonight it really is "prime time". I hope that they are pleased with the portrayal of her case, and of course I hope tonight's episode leads to a breakthrough in Tara's investigation. Please let them know they are in my thoughts and prayers today and that I'll be thinking of them tonight. _________________ Patrick Burns

| I'm really looking forward to tonight's episode. I have a couple of friends who knew Tara from school and they were pretty shook up when all this happened. |

I guess my posts seem negative about the show, but I just want them to balance the team out and use you (Patrick) much more. If they don't, thenI think they are missing a great opportunity. Got it read y to go on the DVR. _________________ Member of ROSE Paranormal |

| I'm glad to see some more attention to this case. My oldest daughter is a friend of a friend of Tara. We live close to where it happened, too, and being a mom of a teen and twenty something daughters, it would give me a sense of relief to know someone was caught. |

Wow Patrick, this one had to be tough. It always does when it hits close to home. Very brave to take on this case. Hope you can help the family.

| Kently Tara is my bosses daughter. I told patrick about this case. I am glad they took this one on. I think it will be solved. I know it was hard for Patrick to this show. Tara's mother has told me on several occasions that Tara worked thru me to get this done for her. I feel like she did. |

good show, PB. the rewrite and format actually make it better than the first one.
plus -I didn't have to wait until 4am to see it this time!! yehah!
I know that there will be postive outcomes to this episode being reviewed in prime time -now those who didn't see it here in Ga will have had a chance to catch it and perhaps it will lead to an arrest!
such a pretty girl. and such a senseless loss!
okay folks -join me. now the episode has aired we will all believe that the case WILL be solved. for Tara's sake and for the Baker Family. somebody knows. somebody saw something.
positive energy is already flowing out...! _________________ "just because you can't SEE them, doesn't mean they're not there!" |

| Man, this one is is just pulling on my heart. I'm hoping that John is correct and that the police already have something with the killer's DNA on it. |

I was just wondering if the authorities ever checked for that item that John saw some trace evidence on. Also wondering if any of the initial suspects in the case, looked anything like the man John described for the sketch that was drawn. It would be great if someone watching the show tonight recognizes that man!! _________________ "Frankly, Scallop...I dont give a clam!"

Our hearts go out to the family...Such a terrible way to die. I was glad to see a more human side of John and Carla with the cold spot at the grave...Excellent. Still think the show needs more fo your scientific exposure. Went to Cout TV's web site and their message board and it looks like the show is taking a bashing. From what I could tell they want more scientific evidence too. _________________ Your loved ones are not gone...They are just harder to see and hear!!! |

Thanks to all for your feedback on the show and well wishes for the Baker family. I know they appreciate it.
And thanks again to those of you who desire to see more of the "scientific" paranormal investigation perspective. I know that the powers that be at Court TV read these forums and will take all your comments into consideration.
Its important to remember these shows are not about me, John or carla. They are about the victims of these horrific crimes. Period! The amount of airtime anyone in the cast gets is a totally irrelevant, moot point. What's important is that the KNOWN facts of these cases get out there for people to see.
Thanks again, and please keep up with your invaluable feedback! _________________ Patrick Burns

Patrick,
I know that you have probably been to Tara's website, but pls take a look at these pics....three of them are interesting.
http://www.tarabaker.com/memorial02.html
Also, have the police looked into her bf or her ex bfs? That is the first thing I thought about when John and Carla were describinbg her attacker.
BTW...I LOVE the show, but agree that it needs to be longer and you need to be more involved.

| Geek, excellent show ! Your team puts out an incredible amout of information in a very short time. Could you add the criminal sketch of each show into the final credits to give more air time. Suggest you set up your equipment at the home of the person you are investigating. Spirits return to their favorite areas. Your discretion not to distract from the investigation will be best. Interviewing the familys belief in the spirit world will determine your setup site. Sensors around a victums favorite chair while discussing a family experience might give results. Thankyou Courttv for this gift to the victums familys. |

Patrick is absolutely correct! What is important is bringing these cold cases back on to the front burner. What we need to remember is that initially Patrick had a larger part in the show. The powers that be decided to go for a more well known narrator on the show as a condition to taping the first season. Unfortunately, that cut back Patricks role somewhat for the time being. Courtv realizes what he adds to the mix or they wouldnt have him there. I think the show is great. It may not be all we want it to be but we need to remember that it is in its infancy. If the first season's shows are well received, and a second season is picked up, there will be some changes. Courtv listens to all the comments and feedback on the show and they will take that into consideration as they plan for the next season. Most tv shows start out in their most basic form and then they fill out and are modified as they grow. I like this show and I am looking forward to watching it develop, Patrick is an essential player in the show and Im sure we will see much more of him as time goes along! But like he said, getting the facts of these cases out into the public eye is what is top priority!!

This was the first episode I've seen and I have to say I was very skeptical going in, as I'm not one who is a big fan of the whole psychic approach. However, I found myself really drawn in to it once the investigation moved to Tara's parents just by the sheer emotion of it. Being a parent myself, it was tough to have to see the grief experienced by this couple who are living every parent's worst nightmare.
From that point on I was sucked into it and found myself riveted by the entire investigation. Even though it wasn't so much about "ghost hunting" as I initally thought it would be, I still thoroughly enjoyed it. Good show!
By the way, I may be showing my ignorance here (as I don't watch a lot of network television), but is Clara the same psychic profiler they based the Patricia Arquette show "Medium" on? |

You are did a wonderful job for the Bakers and court tv. Let's all hope and pray it brings fresh evidence to the police of Athens!! Let us get them off their hinnies and get busy again!! |

The show "Medium" is based on psychic Allison DuBois....
Kimberly
P.S. Once again, Patrick, I'm really proud of your continuing efforts to keep the show focused on the victims and not the "stars."
