I've been to this place a handful of times, and in my personal opinion (for what its worth) there is an above average level of activity here that we have observed.
I've heard a number of people quick to dismiss what has been reported there when they don't observe or experience it personally. To them I ask "since when does paranormal activity perform on command for anyone?" Seriously… there is nothing wrong with being skeptical, but for one to completely dismiss other people’s accounts just because it hasn't happened to them personally I think is a tad bit presumptuous. There are some things that my teams have experienced there that we have not accounted for. Here is a link to a report from an investigation three of us conducted there early this year...
As for the mysterious scratches that some have reported... I can personally attest to this. It has happened to me, and I know at least 3 other people who say they have sustained similar scratch marks in this place that they could not account for. No – I don’t believe my scratches were the result of an encounter with thorn bushes as some have suggested. One typically remembers such an encounter!
The first time I went there was summer of 2003. Nothing out of the ordinary happened to any of us while we were in there, but upon returning home and getting ready for bed, I observed that I had 2 or 3 light scratches on my arms and legs, and at least 2 under my shirt. All were several inches long and I had not noticed any of them prior to this investigation. They were not deep scratches, but yes - similar to what one might get if one were to run thru a thorn bush.
As far as the thorn bush theory is concerned, the last time I was there, we went actively searching for thorns. We observed several areas with vines that appeared as if they might be thorned, but close inspection (running them thru bare hands!) we confirmed there were no thorns on the vines we sampled. Not saying there aren’t ANY in there – it is in the woods after all, but the area where I had been (and would have sustained my scratches) we did not observe anything that would appear to be responsible for such marks.
Now I was wearing shorts and a t-shirt that night, so I’ll regress and humor the skeptics. Perhaps I had an encounter with a thorn bush that night and just didn’t recall it. OK… that might account for the scratches on my legs and arm. But to sustain a long scratch mark on ones skin thru clothing is going to be extremely difficult, if not impossible. The thorn is going to tend to snag on the cloth fibers vs. producing a long, uninterrupted scratch mark. And again - one would certainly recall such an encounter with thorny vegetation as it is typically rather unpleasant!
But again I regress… I’m an investigator after all; its supposed to be my job to find the logical explanation! Let’s see if one CAN be scratched thru clothing in this manner. OK… I just took a pin and attempted to scratch myself thru my t-shirt with it numerous times. To leave ANY kind of noticeable mark requires pressing down and dragging the pin with considerable effort – my guess is at least five or more pounds of force (more force than a brush against a loose vine is going to create). And even so, the mark left does not resemble the red, inflamed scratches I appear to have sustained while in this cemetery. The one scratch that DOES resemble what I sustained was made with the pin itself against bare skin. Self inflicted injury in the name of science… OUCH! Anyone have some Bactine? LOL!
UPDATE - its now an hour after my initial "scratch test". I checked to see if perhaps these scratch marks made thru my shirt might show up after a lapse of time. Result - negative.
Out of the half dozen or so times I’ve been there, I was only “scratched” the one time, so I guess its easy to dismiss it as “urban myth” if you’ve gone numerous times and never experienced it. But it appears to be the exception – not the rule to experience this phenomena there.
Obviously no one can say for certain if these scratches people are reporting here are truly paranormal in origin. But while I can’t speak for others “injuries”, I’m unable to account for the scratches I received there in the summer of 2003. _________________ Patrick Burns

Hello folks:
I live in the Atlanta area and have never heard of the Devil's turnaround. I'm not from Georgia, being originally from Ohio, so am not familar with everything.
Could someone enlighten me about what the story is about the Devil's turnaround and where it is located.
I have been both nite and day to DT. I got wha could probably be marked down as dust particles or moisture. I didn't get anything sugnifigant but have heard several different stories. I did manage to get the creeps by observing the exumed graves. What the crap is that all about but nothing good obviously. I was more terrified in seeing alive people that were up to no good than something sinister as an evil spirit. I was deffinately spooked no lie. But I feel it may have been power of suggestion. There are people with not so good intensions that frequent the graveyard so go in caution. I have heard of the scratches as well. I fortunately did not aquire any myself. HAPPY HUNTING!!! _________________ Just passing through to the other side.

I understand where you are coming from. But all I wanted to know was the general story of what the area is and an idea of what part of Georgia it is in. Would love to come on an investigation but I have to be careful where I go as I am disabled and cannot walk in some rough areas. Would someone be so kind as to tell me the story please.

Yep. Think there should be a redirect page that just says,

Hi y'all. Just wanted to remind you, that Devils' Turnaround is off limits and a NO TRESSPASSING sign is posted. People have been arrested in the last few months, and Patrick in particular says never to use his name if you go and get caught! they are taking plate numbers and reporting them. People have trashed the area and desecrated what is supposed to be an area of interest and value. We were all warned several months ago about going there... sorry to burst your bubble, but the law is the law.. respect it , it's a good thing.

I totally love that movie. My very most favorite quote of alll times comes from that movie..
Now that's a real shame when folks be throwin' away a perfectly good white boy like that.
Anyway. We had another thread up here somewhere about Devil's Turnaround and yes, most definately, this spot is a NO-NO! Unless you want to be brought up on tresspassing charges.
My niece went to the old Buford Hospital the other weekend. I told her that it was NO TRESSPASSING. She said she didn't see a no tresspassing sign, just a sign that said "Private Property". I then proceeded to call her a dork and smacked her upside her head.

When the seasonal thrill seekers to start asking where Devils Turn-A-Round is, you can be sure Halloween is right around the corner! You can almost set your watch by it.
To those looking for directions to the cemetery - fahgitaboudit! You won't find them here. As others have said, the place has been vandalized to the point it is now totally OFF LIMITS (thank the idiots who think its "cool" and "funny" to desecrate someones final resting place).
